THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
Auckland Farmeiis View Point. “We are well aware that the Reform Party is not the wholehearted friend of the farmer that many would have us believe, and the veiy fact that we have such difficulty in making progress in the matters we arc now advocating shows clearly that there is a power K-A'iml the throne in the shape of the vested interests we are up against all the time. Our demands nro so just and reasonable that we do not believe any party in power would, if untrammelled, decline to support them, hut, behind it all, stands the sinister spectre of vested interests, which will for ever take its toll of our resources and blight all our prospects if it is not met and defeated by a united body of farmers taking an independent stand in the world of politics.” Auckland Farmers’ Union Journal.
