Asquith speaking at Dulwich, contradicted the statement that at a meeting of Liberal leaders be proposed a Liberal reunion, which his colleagues rejected and consequently he abandoned the proposal. There was not a word of truth in the fable that all Liberals were anxious for re- j union, and an even more fatuous fabrication was -the story that in tile event of tho present Government not obtaining a parliamentary majority that ■■ there would be some nebulous combination between Bonar Law’s forces and , bis own. The suggestion of such ' an alliance was too fantastic for a midsummer night’s dream. Mr Asquith added that if they gave the Government a blank cheque there would lie no guarantee that the Government would not be landed in protection. *
