Park Street, Hokitika. My Dear Mary, Your note to hand and now 1 realise why you are called “Clever Alary”. Ido envy you pelting through washing day so quickly and cheerfully, thanks to your economical copper. I still use the old stoking copper and what a day 1 had yesterday, 'the wood was wet, the coal was wet, and it took no end of stoking to make the water hoil. It was late in the day before 1 had the' clothes on the line, and the shower in the late afternoon spoiled the drying I worked far into the night trying to get the washing away. Had to have a big fire in the kitchen all the evening to dry off the clothes. I showed your note to Jim and T think he was sympathetic. Anyhow he said he would call at W. H. Shannon’s in Revell Street and see what could lie done, so I hope to get through next week’s washing as comfortably as you do. Full of hopo and expectation, with love, Y<*trs DOROTHY YQTTKNOW. '
