The annual meeting of tho Westland Chamber of Commerce takes place at the County Chambers to-night at 7.30 o’clock.
The Reef ton Bowling Club opened the season on Saturday, but owing to wet Weather., no play took place, President V. Mori, formally declaring the season open.
The death occurred at Totara Flat of Mr Patrick Moore, aged 74 years. Deceased was rt native of County Tipperary (Ireland) and was well-known cn the West Coast. He is survived by his wife.
The death occurred at the Grey River Hospital, in Saturday of Mr Robert Hunter aged 85 years. Deceased was n native of Scotland, and resided in Nelson Cieek before cnteiing the hospital,

We regret to icoord the death of Mrs Raker of To Namu. Bailor,' wife of Ur F. Baker, which occurred on Saturday. She whs an old resident of To Namu and foimeily resided at Seddorville. The late Mrs Baker, who was 65 years of age, is survived hy a sorrowing husband and three Sons.,
The death of Mr Michael Fitzgerald, Honiara, at the Old People’s Home, Kiimara. at the age of 83 years, lias removed another of the early hand of pioneers. He frits a native of Ireland, and came to New Zealand 56 years ago, following the occupation of a gold miner. He lived for many years at Okarito. South Westland.

The monthly meeting of the local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held at the Drill Hall last evening, the President (Mr Evans) presiding. Arrangements were made for the returned soldiers’ reunion to be held at tho Supreme Hall on Friday next, when Col. Young of Christchurch will be the guest of honor. Mr M . E. l.eadloy of Christchurch will lie present also, and will lie glad to meet returned men in regard to any matters affecting pensions, land, loans etc. A torst list for the evening was drawn up, and a sub-committee appointed to attend to decorating the hall etc. Tickets at 3s fid each are on sale. It was reported there would he several visitors from the north. Whilst oil the point of opening the gate leading into his bouse in Hospital Street, GreymOuth about 6.30 o’clock last night, James Hiitt, aged 39 ,n native of England, collapsed and expired. Hunt, who lias been in New Zealand about nine months, saw service in the Great War, suffering from the effects of a severe gassing. He bad latelv been employed at the laundry of Mr Gatlin. Medical assistance was immediately called in, but life was extinct, Tile body was removed to the morgue and an inquest will most likely be held to-day.
The death took place at Timaru yesterday of Mr Henry T. Rix a member of the staff of the West Coast Times, over 16 years ago. and lately of the Grey Star. Deceased left Grey mouth a lew weeks .ago to take up his abode in Tim am. Hr Rix was active in religious circles, and served the public at one time as a member of the Grey High School Committee. The Railway Department lias notified delayed trains to Ross and Greymouth on Friday afternoon next in connection with the unveiling of the Westland War Memorial. A meeting of the stall holders and others interested in Paddy’s Market to be continued on Cass Square to-mor-row was held at the Town Clerk’s office last night, Hon. 11. L. Michel M.L.C. (President of flic Beautifying Association) presiding. Mr Niven, lion.
