park Street, Hokitika. My Dear Mary, Your note to hand and now I realise why you are called “Clever Maty”. Ido envy you getting through washing day so quickly and cheerfully, thanks to vour economical gas e»i>per. I still use the old stoking copper and what a day I had yesterday. The wood was wet, the coal was wet, and it took no end of stoking to make the water hoil. It was late in the day before I had the clothes on the line, and the shower in the late afternoon spoiled the drying I worked far into the night trying to get the washing away. Had to have a big fire in the kitchen all the evening to dry off the clothes. I showed your note to Jim and T think lie was sympathetic. Anyhow lie said he would call at W. H. Shannon’s in Revell Street and see what could be done, so I hope to get through next week’s washing as comfortably as you do. Full of hope and expectation, with love, . Yours Faithfully, DOROTHY YOUKNOW.
