METEOROLOGICAL.
The indications are for southerly winds, strong to gale at times, and veering by smith to west. Expect changeable and showery weather. The barometer has it rising tendency, but barometer falling again soon. Sens heavy ; tides good.
RUTTER APPEALS ALLOWED. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. Justice Chapman allowed the appeal of the Central Co-op. Dairy Coy., against conviction for selling short weight butter. The Judge held the defendant was'entitled to have the re'sult of the weighing of six other packages of butter put before the Court in the event of the result faring favourable. He thought the regulations contemplated that in the case of goods Hire butter, the. weighing of all packages should be as nearly as possible contemporaneous arid weighed on the same scale. He considered the high character of the company and held that tho ease was not proved. A similar appeal by Taitapu Daily Coy., was also allowed.
