World’s Largest City.
NEW YORK NOW LEADS
Tho latest statistics show that the largest city in the world, judged by population, is not London, but New York. According to recently published figures the population of New York including Brooklyn, is £7,820,070; whereas Greater London has only 7,170,108 inhabitants. It will be remembered, however that adjoining Greater Loudon are other large areas practically continuous with it, whose people are not included in the published figures of the population of London. Yet their streets arc continuous with those of the great city, and if the population of these areas that are really part of London, though not officially joined to it, were included, Loudon would easily beat New York, and maintain its prouiul position as the biggest .city in the world. Four other citie shave over 2.000.000 inhabitants: Berlin, 4.000,000; go 2,701, 705; Paris 2,863,741; Tokio 2,173,401. Fifteen other cities have over 1,000.000 people each. Budapest, Hamburg. Pekin, Buenos Ayres, Hankow, Philadelphia, Calcutta, Mexico, Rio Janeiro Constantinople, Moscow. Shanghai, Glasgow, Osaka, Vienna.
