Westland Trotting Club.

ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting of members was held last evening at the Club Rooms. There were present—Messrs P. McGregor (Chair), C. J. P. Sellers, H. A. Thompson, A. W. Yarrall, D. K. Dowell, J. J. Brrcpe and M. Houston. 'J'he minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. ANNUAL REPORT. Tn presenting the Annual Report and Balance Sheet for the past season the Club is again to be congratulated on a very successful year. The annual trotting race meeting was held on the Hokitika racecourse on Thursday, January sth, 1922, and passed off most successfully. The attendance was a record one, the sum of C2OG 2s having !>ecn taken at the gates. Splendid nominations and acceptances wore received and all the races were well contested. The sum of £750 was given in stakes, being £l5O in excess of those of the previous year.

The sum of £8326 passed through the totalisator as against £lO/158 of the previous year, a falling off ol £212, which under the depressed circumstances ruling at the time throughout the Dominion, must he considered verv satisfactory.

Mr A. G. Mnbee was present at the meeting in the capacity of Stipendiary Steward and his report to the N . 7,. Trotting Conference on the conduct of the meeting was most satisfactory.

The luncheon and tea rooms were again most successfully conducted by the lady helpers 011 -account, of the Club, and the best thanks are due to them for the splendid results attained. Recently tlio Club suffered a serious loss through the death of one of its keenest officials, Mr R. Fane, who always look a lively interest in the welfare of the Club and for many years acted as honorary clerk of the course ; his loss was sincerely felt by all the members of the Club.

Mr D. .T. Evans again represented the Club at the Annual Meeting of the Conference at Wellington in August, and our best thanks are due to him in this connection. Our next trotting fixture will take place on Thursday 4th January, 1923. The thanks of the Club are due to the Westland Racing Club, for use of its course and aopointinmits. to Mr Noble who ha 1 always assisted in the eapacitv cf liandioapper. to Ale ssrs TT. The balance sheet- showed the receipts including a balance in hand at the beginning of the year of £OO 3s Id, amounted to £l3Ol 16s 7d. while the expenditure amounted to £I3BB 12s "d, Government taxes for the meeting amounted to £636 17s Id. hearing a debit balance of 0«r, 16s.

TJie report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr .T. Peake was appointed auditor. The old Committee was re-elected with the addition of Mr P .Adamson. The following new members were elected.—Messrs Tf. T). MeMannway. and E. W. TTeenan. The meeting then terminated. MEETING OF COMMITTER.
