“PEARLS AND SAVAGES.” TO-NIGHT. Being tlio amazing motion picture records of an adventurous exploit into the wilds by Captain Frank Hurley and his expedition to Papua, and the Torres Straits. In the beginning the hlizzard raged and the ico Hoes crashed on the coast of Elephant Island, in the AntarcticSeas. A handful of shipwrecked ' explorers erouched beneath a couple ot upturned boats, waiting wearily for relief. It was not surprising that their thoughts sped to warmer lands, and so it came about that a vow vas made there and then that should civilisation l>o reached again, the rest of their days would be spent thawing out in the tropics. So Captain I‘rank (Hurley’s thrilling picture of his Gavels among the islands in the Torres Straits following the diver in his quest for pearls, seeking romance in the land o. a thousand dreams. “Pearls and. Savages” which will be seen at Princess Theatre to-night is a story of life that is r oal not the life of the movie studios. The film composed is mostly of motion pictures and partly of beautiful coloured slides, is wonderfully arranged and connected, and the story as ‘recounted vividly by Capt Pearson unfolds itself with fascinating interests.
