It is stated (says the Argus) that Reefton people are ’critical of the action of the Chairman of the Greymouth Harbour Board (Mr Jesse Steer) relative to a recent vacancy on the Board. The Greyinouth War Memorial Committee last night decided to . adopt plans for n. war memorial from a number submitted for selection. There passed away early yesterday morning, at the Grey Elver Hospital, says the ‘‘Argus”, one of the oldest pioneers if the West Coast. Mr William Kelly, or “Billy,” -as he was familiarly known to his old mates, was born in County Cork, Ireland, 94 years ago. Leaving there as a young man he followed the sea for several years, during which time be travelled tbe world. Coming to New Zealand in the very early days, lie joined the first rush to the Coast.
