In reply to Mr Sykes. Hon. Parr said the Government had been looking into the question of a superannuation scheme for nurses hut as the activities reported it would leqilire a subsidy from the state of £20,000 aimually, it could not he entertained at present, lint Cabinet were now considering a !i -s amhitioiis scheme. Replying to Mr Fraser. Mr Massey said the State Advances Department would be taking over tin Housing Department almost straight away. He would announce a new scheme when the details were completed. Replying to Mr Fraser. Mr Massey said if New Zealand Labour Unions would be satisfied with a- British Labour representative at the International Labour Conference under the League of Nations at Geneva, perhaps something could he arranged, but it wouhl. cost a great deal ol money to send a representative from Now Zealand direct, in addition to which New Zealand bad nothing to learn Irom other countries in the matter of legislation.
