Tin. Westland Kuh-l'nion inserts a tinticr of thanks in this issue. Miss Aline Sealer, representative for Viavi, Christchurch, is in Hokitika for a few days, and is staying at Keller’s ] Intel. The Westport Bowling Cluh opened its 1922--3 season on Monday in wretched weather, necessitating mostly indoor arrnngi.ments. Mr It. Cameron, vice-president, before declaring the green open, mentioned that he was presiding in the absence of the worthy president (Captain W. H. Tulloeh), who had recently suffered adouble bereavement. Ik desired to convey not only the club's but visitors sincere sympathy to the president m Ids great loss and sorrow. Proceeding Mr "Cameron stated the green was i'n the pink of condition and never before had the green looked so excellent and for this condition of things cent praise was due to their worthy groen-keeper, Mr J. McLeod Members were looking forward with keen interest to the West Coast tournament to lie held at Westport on f'ebruary 13th and 14th next, lie then formally declared the green open. Mrs Cameron then rolled up the jack and My. Bailie, a foundation member ot ' the Cluh, sent along.the first bowl.
