BEST GROOMED MEN.
DEAUVILLE, Aug. 23. Deauville had a. reputation as a stage for the showing and launching of women’s fashions, hut at the races here, it is generally admitted the men are better dressed than the women. Anybody who lias watched the sartorial progress made by Frenchmen realises that, taken collectively they are better dressed than Englishmen. The men I saw in the various enclo-
sures had perfect-fitting clothes, colours and accessories well chosen.
At least 75 per cent wore white flannel trousers, with dark or light selfcolour lounge jackets. The popularity of the white buckskin shoe, strapped in brown leather, is noticeable. Grey Is the predominating colour for lounge suits. 'Double-ftrealstedi jackets are worn by the best-groomed men. Straw hats or boaters are easily first favourites. The King of Spain’s green Homburg bat is being copied already. I counted 9 in the Jockey Club Stand.
