ARAHURA SALE YARDS,

At the usual fortnightly sale last Monday at the above yards the entry comprised 75ihead fat cattlo and 2(1 head of stores. The attendance of buyers was well up to the average and competition throughout the sale was keen, resulting in a total clearance of the whole yarding at prices still firmed than those recorded last sale. Afessrs AY. Jeffries and Co. sold as follows:-—On account Messrs Nolan Bros, 6 bullocks at £lO, 3 at £9 12s <;d, 3 .at £9 ss, 2 at £9 12s 6d, 2 at C 9 2s fid, 2 at £lO, C at, £8 17s fid, 3 at C 9, 4 at £8 15s, fi at £8 12s fid, 3 at £8 10s, 14 at £B, 2 at £8 10s, 3 heifers at- £B, 3 at £7 17s fid ; on account Mr AY. H. Karnbneh 2 prime huHocks at 614 2s fid, 1 heifer at £lO 2s fid, 1 at £8 10s, 1 at- £7 12s fid, 1 at C 7 10s, 1 at £7 ss, 1 at £7 2s fid. There were no sheep yarded and in this connection, butchers are having some difficulty ;in obtaining supplies locally and are having to fail hack on the Addington market for their requirements. ■

AD JINCTON STOCK MARKET

A BIG ENTRY. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep—A much larger entry composed mostly of ewes and lambs aiul wethers. The market generally showed a decline owing principally to the continued dry weather. Ewes and lambs all counted from 12s to 15s fid; wethers from 18s to 25s 9d; hoggets from 13s fid to 17s 9d; ewes hoggets up to 23s fid. Store Cattle—A fair size yarding, including one or two good lines of well-grown steers, but the entry generally comprised non-descript lots. Good competition for any well-grown forward steers. One small pen of 4vear old bullocks making £8 2s. All classes of good steers sold well but heifers did not meet with tho same demand. Best forward steers £7 to £8 2s; others £4 12s fid to £6 15s; 2 years ditto £3 to £3 ss, yearling ditto 30s to 40s; 2 and 3 year heifers £3 to £3 Lss; 18 months ditto 30s to £2 15s; cows 20s to 455.

Pies Porkers had a medium yarding and the demand was easier. Light porkers 35s to 435; medium 45s to 50s; keavy to £2 15s. The average price was to 7sd. Baconers,—A small- va,riling the demand was easier than the previous week. Light baconers 55s to 635, medium 65s to 70s; heavier to 755. The average price was 4ild to sjd.

Store pigs—A large yarding. AVeaners 10s to 2‘2s; slips 18s to 265; medium stores 28s to 37.5. No large stores were offering.

Beef —Another large yarding comprising 340 head, as compared with 250 last week, tho entry including about 100 head from the "North Island. The market opened easier especially for heavier sorts. and continued so throughout hut towards the the last improved somewhat. The decline was was not so apparent in medium weight well -finished local beef. Prime steers £l2 15s. to £l4 15s; extra to £l6; medium £lO 10s to £l2 10s; others £7 10s to £lO ss; prime heifess £9 to £11; extra to £l2 2s fid; others £6 10s to £8 15s; prime cows £8 to £lO 10s; extra to £l2 12s fid: others £3 to £7 15s.

Mutton—A larger yarding than last week, and the quality with the exception of a fow good lines was not up to tho average. -The market opened easier and continued the same throughout, but like the beef market improved somewhat towards tho finish. There were more shorn sheep in than there lias been this year and an average drop Is to Is fid all round. Prime wethers 30s to 375; extra to 455; medium and good shearing sheep 26s Gd to 295; others 24s to 265; host shorn wethers 36s to 30s lOd ; others 21s 9d to 245. Ewes wore in the same proportion.
