Air N. 0. Fairlie, the caretaker at Lake Kanieri hatchery, was successful last week in catching three large quiniiat salmon in the lake. The fish were known to he there for a long time past, hut it was only in the spawning season they were seen. Air Fairlie fished with a trawling line out from a dinghy, and inside of a quarter ot an hour secured the fish, which were each four pounds weight. There are said to be many salmon in the lake at this season of the year, and AL Fairlie’s success will probably attract other visitors to the locality to try their luck.
