4T7ETQALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION WAGE CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, Oct. 16. A conference as between the employers and the employees, convened by Air -Justice Powers, (Judge of the Federal Arbitration Court) to discuss the basic wage, opened to-day. Air Justice Powers, iu his opening address, said that though the Federal Arbitration Court had acted with the best intentions, tile Court had not been doing justice to the workers, who have not been getting the full benefit of the harvest judgment, which was fixed by AH Justice Higgins as the basic wage. The Judge stated that, taking tho award from 1918 to the end of September, 1922, the losses for the four and a half years to the workers (taking an average of all the capital cities of the Commonwealth) have amounted to £SO 7s 6d per head. ATOORE PARK TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, October 16. The man Jensen, who was keeping company with Mrs Kearney, has been remanded on a charge of murdering Airs Kearney.
