Good progress is being made with the restoration of the local swimming baths, which it is hoped to have in first-i In-ss order for the season t-o open next month. The local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association met at the Drill Shed last evening, the President (Mr D. .J. Evans) presiding. There were present also Messrs J. Cullen, *l. H. Shand, H. Stuart, E. McGregor, K*. Brown and T. Kerr. The resignation of Mr IV. P. Morgan, treasurer, on his removal to Dunedin was received and accepted with regret, and a letter of thanks to he forwarded to Mr Morgan for his past services. Mr >l. H. Shand was appointed Treasurer, vice Mr Morgan. The transfer of Mr Morgan to the Dunedin branch was approved, betters were read from headquarters, Canterbury, notifying business done at the executive meeting. It was resolved to forward returns in regard to membership. It was decided also to fall in with the publicity scheme, and supply monthly notes of meetings. Arrangements were made for the soldiers’ reunion on Armistice Eve anniversary (Friday, Nov. 10th). It was resolved to arrange with Laughton Bros lor the entering, the evening to take the form of a smoke concert, and the Secretary was empowered to arrange for the use of the Supreme Hall. Tickets wore fixed at 3s fid, land it was resolved to circulate same for sale as soon as possible.
