Deceased was the wife of William Charles Bressnell, a carrier, am! mother of eight children, the oldest being eleven. OBITUARY. WESTPORT. Oct. Hi The death occurred this morning of Mr Andrew Tulloch, father of Captain Tulloch, harbour master at Westport, aged 78 years. He was a well known mariner, and late foreman of tho Union C'oy. at Port Chalmers. A SHOOTING ACCIDENT. ASHBURTON. Oct. 16. A serious shooting accident occurred at Lismore on Sunday afternoon. John Percy Ashton, a single man, 21, was showing a seven year old lad. Geoffrey Sergeant, how to hold a shot, gun. The weapon was loaded, and when being lifted by the bo.v into position. was discharged, the shot entering Ashton’s throat. His condition is very critical.
A SAD END. WiIANCARF.T, October 16. Alexander Bell, aged 82, formerly « muster mariner, an inmate of the Old Peoples’ Home was found dead under a bridge at Otnika road yesterday nftornoun with his face blown away. He had improvised a gun, with which the suicide was committed, from a piece of lend piping charged with powder and fired from a touch hole. A letter was found in his pocket addressed to the police sergeant intimating his intent ion. Ho had suffered from an incurable disease for many years. A SUICIDE. AYAIPUKURAU. Oct 16. Thomas Tliross, a farm labourer, was found dead in a wlmre at Hatunia on Saturday, with a gash in the side and right leg and an open razor beside him. At the inquest on Sunday 11 verdict of suicide was returned.
