THE FAMOUS DIGGERS.
NFAY REAL GIRL SHOW
PRINCESS THEATRE, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY NEXT. There is no doubt about the popularity of the real girl show which the Famous iggers" management are now presenting to their New Zealand audiensAS. When an advertisement was put in the paper for chorus girls, thoro were 178 applications from the North Island alone, and from these The Diggers picked six lovely ballet girls who are now known as “Tho Superb Six.” Already they have (landed their way into popularity. Superbly dressed and •sumptuously mounted, tho show, with its ton beautiful girls, takes on quite a. different aspect to that which it had when its warrior performers first returned from France. It is of course a far more delectable show and tho experience gained during the past three years has stood the management in good stead.
Of tho comedy, one may say that the host sketches and satires of the latest London and American shows are packed into the two and a-half hours programme. interspersed of course with the very latest from song-land. Miss Claire Goolcy, who is French, nevertheless sings her songs in delightful English and has been described in Australia as the Gladys Moncrieff of Revue.” It is seldom given to the lot of Now Zealanders to hear two such fine comedians on one bill as Messrs .Joe Valli and Jimmy Norton. Eilv Datgleish is a glad little person who dispenses 'cheer whenever she is on the stage. Gus Dawson, who has produced all the ballets of the show, has dug out some excellent material for his own songs and dances. Stan Lawson. wild has received a fine offer from America, is going to remain a few months longer with The Diggers and will ho seen in both man and girl parts. Claude Bell is sure to bo a great favourite. His voice is as clear and as resonant as his name. Other members of the company are Lois Briefly, Zelda Bayl.v, Connie Middleton, Diana. Tabor, Leah M i Ison and Thelma Barton. The Diggers Orchestra will as usual he a feature of tho show.
