SAN FRANCISCO October 12. The passenger' liner, the City of Honolulu, Los Angelos, is afire five hundred miles' west of Los Angelos. Wireless messages stated they are lowering the boats, and asked for assistance. Her position was 31 north, 131 west. Later messages state that all the passengers have been transferred to the lifeboats. It is believed that four hundred are aboard. Tlie liner was formerly the North German Lloyd “Friederick der Grosse” and latterly running between Honolulu and San Pedro. The fire proved to Ibe uncontrollable, and the ship was completely abandoned. The steamer Enterprise is expected to arrive in the vicinity of ’the boats at noon. It is also stated that a ship not named, is picking up the passengers, U.S.A. SHIPPING APPEAL. . NEW YORK,' Oct IIT The Cunard and Anchor Steamship Companies have applied to the Federal Circuit Court for an injunction restraining the United States Treasury Department from seizing liquorladen ships. Judge Hand has ordered a hearing for October 17th.
