The Council met'at 2.30 p.m. The Fireblight Bill, Auckland City and Auckland Hospital Board Empowering Bill, and Invercargill Corporation Empowering Bill, were reported without amendment. Stnte Fire Insurance Amendment Bill and Coal Mines Amendment Bill were read a second time pro forma and referred to committees. Juries Amendment Bill providing for majority verdict passed without amendment. Hauraki Plains Amendment Rill and Canterbury College and Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill were load a second time The Council rose at 3.45 p.m.
THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. After the transaction of formal business, the debate on the report of the Petition Committee on the petition of Post and Telegraph Association was continued.
The debate was continued at the evening sitting, and at a division taken on an amendment moved by Mr Holland, that the report of the Committee he referred back for further consideration, the amendment was defeated by 53 to 11. Tho petition was then referred to the Government in accordance with the Committee’s report. Industrial Conciliation Arbitration Amendment, and Dairy Export Control Bill were introduced by Governor’s message and read a first time. Tile latter was also read a second time, pro forma, and referred to .a special committee.
