Beef—A larger yarding than last week, including 80 head of North Island cattle. The quality all round was much hotter than for some time. There was practically no difference in t o market except for the heaviest caltle, which were perhaps, a shade easier. Good cows and heifers sold better. Prime steer beef was about 31s Gd to 3ls per 100. Prime steers £l3 to £ls; extra io £IG 15s: medium £ll to £l2 15s; light and inferior £7 10s to £lO. Prime heifers £9 to £ll ; extra to £l3; ethers £5 5s to £8 10s. Prime cows £8 to £lO 1.0 s; extra to £l3; others £4 to £7 15s.

Mutton—A similar yarding to last week, mostly wethers and the quality all round was good, some excellent lines of wethers from South Canterbury being yarded. The market opened firmer and improved as it progressed showing nnot’ or rise of 2s G.I lo 3s per ! e"d mi last week. West Coast and uiuntry butchers were again operating. Prime wethers 31s to 30s Gd; extra to 41 4d; medium 28s to 31s; lighter 25s to 27s Gd. Shorn wethers 21s to 255, but not many were in and only medium sorts, fv'e, showed the same propoitionate rise.
