Spring Show and Sale of Work.
The annual spring show and sale of work in St Andrew’s Hall arranged by the Presbyterian Church Committee took place yesterday afternoon and evening, and proved very successful. As usual the lady members of the Church entered whole heartedly in the' ararngements, and the stocks on the several stalls showed that nimble fingers had been hard at work for many months past preparing for the annual sale. The various stalls were well laden and those in charge must have been well repaid by the successful results achieved, the large stocks being readily disposed "of. visitors, especially the fair sex appreeiatiiiß the general quality and daintiness of the very attractive presentation.
The display of spring flowers was one to attract, and please, and on Ibis occasion the Coast grown flowers showed to distinct advantage there beiim some verv line blooms shown, especially, by Afr A. B. Spiers of Kutnarn, Air A. B. Boyd and Air . •Selby of Kailieri. The former succeeded in winning the prize for the champion bloom with a very fine specimen. Air Bradbury of Christchurch also had on exhibition a fine display of'blooms, but the lateness of the season, prevented this section being anything like equal to the display made by the same exhibitor some two years ago. During the afternoon and evening there were various side shows and with the tea rooms those assisting were kept busily engaged all working hard to ensure a financial success to tho exhibition which proved very successful.
