AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION BOXER INDEMNITY. PEKING, Oet. 4. Belgium has informed China that she would consent to a postponement of the Boxer indemnity, provided that future payments are made in francs, instead of dollars. The matter is still unsettled.
A NEW TRUST. LONDON, Oct. 4. Over forty million sterling lias been subscribed for the issue of sixteen hundred thousand sterling seven per cent debentures by the New Daily Mail Trust which is primarily secured bv a mortgage on Lord Northcliffe’s former holdings in “Daily Mail” deferred shares.
GENERAL HINDENBURG. BERLIN, Oct. 4. General Hindenburg, in celebrating his 75th birthday, received a number of deputatoins. Replying to congratulations. he said: “Our great time must conic again. Germany cannot always remain in disgrace. She must not place too much confidence in her neighbours. hut help herself. Then God will help her. Great men must return, and great deeds he accomplished. We must, ■ above all, have men who know how to exploit the possibilities of foreign policy. This can Ik* done soon. Remember, that after 1806, it took us only six years.”
