POLLARD’S PICTURES. LIONEL BARRYMORE IN “THE GREAT ADVENTURE” TO-NIGHT.
To-night mt the Princess Theatre, Pollards are presenting a special programme headed by Lionel Barrymore in “The Great Adv r enture” n First National Attraction, and supporting this big feature is the latest Gnumont Graphic, Pnthe Review showing Big Relief Map made for the IT.S.A. Navy, Studies of the Busy Wasp, Picking in Strawberries in Florida. A Pathei Slow Motion Study, A Scenic Study of old Brittany; and a comedy “Meet My Wifd”! Lionel Barrymore, whose illustrious career has been marked by a long chain of dramatic successes, has achieved a new and brilliant triumph on tho screen. In “The Great' Adventure” to-night he is seen in the most fascinating mot(ion picture vehicle that has ever been given him. “The Great Adevnture” is a comedy, adapttd to the screen from the famous play of the same name by Arnold Bennett, and in it Barrymore has the role of the eccentric artist, pursued by a celebrity hunter who seeks to marry him. Inasmuch as the role of Barrymore is a great departure' from anything he. has yet attempted, the masterful interpretation of tho star has helped to make this one of tho most delightful photoplays of the season.
“SNAPSHOTS of 1922.” The appearance of the Snapshots, (Quality Performers) at the Princess Theatre on Friday and Saturday undhr the direction of Nelson and Sluirrafct is arousing anticipation of a very pleasant entertainment. The Snapshots are a. group of versatile English performers, whose skill and artistry 'if of a very high standard. The programme to he presented is a London Costume comedy extravaganza success entitled: “A Harvest of Harmony and Humour.” Vorcflnost among tho vocalists is Mr Aneurin J. Morris, the AVclsh-AustraliaJi lyric tenor, whose voice is said to possess the sweetness for which the Welsh arc renowned. Miss Hazel Fuller (soprano) is a New Zealand girl who returns after an absence of two years an accomplished singer. There is no lack of good healthy humour, an element provided by three comedians, Messrs Sharratt, Wenban and Nelson, all in tho front rank of performers. Popular prices of admission arc being charged, and the box plan is'at Miss Mclntosh's where scats can be booked without extra charge.
