CRICKET NEWS.
■ USTRAMAN AND N.Z. CAIU.IS ASSOCIATION LONDON. October 1. In an interview with the Westminster Gazette, Air AfacLmen considered the batting and fielding were bis teams uncertainties. Most of them were amateurs and too likely to adopt tlie sportinrr spirit. Chapman was almost certain to do well. Geoffrey AVilson bud recovered from an operation and will be a most valuable field. Meeting MacDonald should be oil for good, the batsmen need the experience of such a redoubtable bowler. The practice of sendind junior teams on tour was most valuable in future. English cricketers picked the team of young men likely to improve quite thirty per cent during the tour. I am frankly funking playing with so little practice. It takes at least a fortnight to get accustomed to the bright Australian light. We are quite prepared for a bad start. If so I shall tell the team there is no cause to lose heart. AVe shall get on capitally socially, ns good cricketers always do.
