HOBART BOSWORTH IN “THE GUP OF LIFE” TO-NIGHT

Pollards are presenting ait th e Princess Theatre to-night A. Thomas H. Inee triumph. A gripping romance of two worlds. “Tho Cup of Life” starring the virile all-man star Hobart Bosworth, overflowing with the adventurous spirit of Old Singapore; brimful with the fragrant dreams of youth; a veritable toast of romance amid surroundings of tho sun-kissed blossoms of the Orient; an associated producers offering. All the colourful allure and adventure associated with the East Indian Islands have beon embodied in “The Cup of Life.” The plot evolves around a magnificent pearl, smuggled from the Dutch fisheries by Bully Brand, a daring notorious sea-captain. Brand muke s it a gift to his son, who in turn presents it to Pain, tho adopted white daughter of a powerful Chinese! merchant. Tho Oriental, under the impression that Brand has corrupted his daughter with the gem, evolves a dreadful revenge which is prevented only by tho courageous action of the smuggler, comprising a climax both unexpected and. sensational, Hobart Bosworth who has fpr many years been associated with virije, manly roles and roles that call for that masculine strength which is a characteristic of him, is seen in the finest offering of his'screen career “The Cup of Life" at the Princess Theatre to-night. A Pathe Gazette, Patho Review, and a Chester comedy “You’ll be 'surprised” (featuring Silooky flip Tin man zee) will also be screened.

RULE BRITANNIA, TUESDAY. Oil Tuesday evening at Hokitika a great attraction in the shape of an Admiralty Official film entitled “Rule Britannia.” will be shown. This film was produced during the war and contains animated scones of officers and men of the Grand Fleet at work and at play, ail impressive, march past of American and British marines, and also depicts battleships and cruisers moving into action in stately array, the fjashes of the guns being plainly seen. The concluding portion of the picture contains some of the finest sea photography ever taken. However, the camera man has done bis work well all through, tile film is most stirring and has been enthusiastically received wherever it has been shown. “Rule Britannia” will be exhibited in Hokitika on one night only under the auspices of till; Canterbury (X. 7,.) Branch of the Navy League, represented by Messrs AY. AValton and C. ,T. Treleaven. who are over here on a lecturing tour. Members of school branches of the Navy League 'will he admitted free.

Tho picture will also he shown at Totara Hall. Ross on Wednesday evening.

“SNAPSHOTS of 1022.” Everybody will he agreeably surprised with the. lavish scale of “The Snapshots)’'’ of 1022 who appear at the Princess Theatre on October fitli and 7th. Every item is suitably dressed and receives an appropriate setting. The costumes were made by the best English theatrical outfitters, while the .scenery is by the famous “Clints.” The performers are all thorough artists in their respective spheres, and their efforts are all directed to making the entertainment thoroughly enjoyable. The vocalists are supported by on orchestra of talented players, and the musical part of the programme will, ho exceptionally good. There will ho many delightful melodies and harmonies. The comedy will ho supplied by Messrs Geo. Sliarratt, and the famous comedian Leonard Nelson, in an extensive repertoire of humorous songs, sketches and monologues. Tlie programme is entitled
