AQJINCTON STORK MARKET. RISE J.\ BEEF AND AIUTTOX. j (Gy Telegraph.—Spsoinl to Guardian.) ' CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. j jHessrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.-—A small market most-, ly hoggets and ewes and lambs which sold about equal to last week’s rates. Best wethers up to 245, others from 18s-(Id. to 225. Best ewe hoggets to 235, mixed sex hoggets 15s to Ids; best ewes and, lambs up to Ids 2d ; others from 12s. The rain lias not yet. had. ally appreciable effect on the market. Store cattle.—A smaller yearling and mostly nondescript lots, very few quotable lines being offered. One small line cf three year old stores made Ct> 4s. There was no appreciable (lifferVuux; in prices of other sorts.
Pigs.—Porkers had an average yarding and prices were satisfactory. Light 45s to 50s : medium 52s to 58s ; heavy £3 to £3 ss. Tho average price was 7.jd to 81d. Biiconcrs had a medium yarding Bind met with a good sale showing ail advance on last rates. Light haeonors 121 15s to Cl 15s; heavy £4 10s to £4 19s fid. The average price was G)d to 7}d. Store pigs had an average yarding and prices were on a par with last week. AYeaners Bis to 21s, slips ids to 235, medium stores 2(is to 335; large stores to -Ids Gd.
Beef.—A much smaller yarding than last week, only about 210 head being yarded including about GO North Islanders. Tho market opened much firmer than last week hut towards the end. of the side sbe-kened somewhat, but on the whole showed an average advance of from 20s to 30s per head. C 8 to Cll ; ' prime to Cl 3 5s : others £3 to C 7 15s. * Mutton.—A small entry again and . following two small yardings butchers ware fairly hare and as West Coast, and country butchers now have to depend on Addington for supplies, the market showed a sharp rise on last week. It opened up considerably firmer and improved as it progressed, hut: towards the end of the sale cased off' to a certain extent. The average advance oil last, week was fully 2s to 3s per head, showing nn advance during the last three weeks of from -!s to 5s per head, and it looks to lis that these prices will he more than maintained for some time. Not many ewes iv”re yarded. The improved price now offering for skins is a vrv great factor in the loiter tope of the mutton market, and hutc-l'ers show a decided nreference for all classes of half Prods.
