An interesting survey of the population, births, deaths and marriages for the year period 1911-1021 is given m a volume which has been issued by the Commonwealth Statistician. It '• 'is out that the total population of the ( ammonwealtii increased from 4,0i3.81iK in 101 l lo 7,710,229 at the end of 1921, an annual increase of 1.77 per cent. At this rate ol increase' the population will reach 10.(100,Out) in 32 yars., and a total of 20,009.000 will he attained in lit) years. The growth during the ten years quoted was accounted for by an excess e! births over deaths amounting to <89,442 and ol arrivals over departures amounting to 1-19.919. Thus 8 I p,,,cut ol the increase during the deeennium was due to natural increase and Hi hit emit to migration.
