“ S.S. Thirst Quencher.”
NEW YORK. The vast number of people in this city whom the law has made—or failed to make—“dry” hail with relief ami tielight the project to establish the “Floating Palace of Delight,” a palatial bar, three miles outside New York harbour, and clear of the prohibition area. The scheme is planned, says the Central News, by Captain James V. Martin a former Professor of astronomy at T 1 a rva rd University. Captain Martin's idea is the establishment of a rapid ferry service between New York City and his “Floating Palace of Delight.” “WITHIN THE LAW.” He is so confident of the desire of the people here to extend a practical welcome to the scheme that he has opened offices, sent out a large amount
of literature, and actually had an electric sky sign advertising “Reereation Beyond the Three-Mile Limit.” The American Recreation Vessel, as the proposed ship is called by Captain Martin is described as “a vast floating city” riding at anchor oil the bosom of the Atlantic. Even in the roughest weather merrymakers aboard the great American Recreation Vessel will feel no discomfort, for a very large vessel at anchor will not disturb the most delicate. LONDON AND PARlS“Wonderful decorated cafes will serve refreshments at prices below those prevalent on Broadway, and it? will again lie possible to hear the pop of sparkling drinks and to enjoy refreshment without fear of wool alcohol.”—“Pall Mall Gazette.”— *
