TARIFF SURPRISE. NEW YORK, August 2. The Fordncy 'Tariff Bill, which for several weeks lias moved through a sea of bitter controversy to an apparently certain passage into law, is now seen by many observers to be in peril. Last wees when the proposed wool duties in the Bill were discussed in the Senate one of the most bitter debates in many years occurred. Senator Caraway has put down a resolution calling for'nn investigation into the financinl affiliations of those senators who have been pressing for high duties on wool and other 'commodities. One of his supporters states that he has photographic copies of documents proving the participation of senators in a wool poo] to gamble in the wool market if the duties are adopted.
