WELLINGTON, Scot. 20, Hie House met at 2.30 p.m.* After the transaction of formal business, Mr Mnssev moved tlie following motion : —That ill connection with the recent developments in the Near East arising out of the war between Turkey and Greece, this House confirms the action of the Government, in response to a telegram from Hon Lloyd George, in stating that New Zealand desired to assoeiate itself with Great Britain in any course of action decided upon, and also that the Dominion was prepared to .send a contingent. This was seconded by Mr Wilford. Mr Holland moved an amendment, the effect of which was that the Premier should have consulted Parliament before promising support to Britain, and that the Imperial Government should be asked to refer the whole dispute with Turkey to the League ot Nations.

This was defeated without debate by 57 to 7. Those voting for the amendment were Messrs Holland, Eraser, Howard, Munro, Savage, Parry and Sullivan. The discussion on Mr Massey’s motion was continued until 9.13 p.m., when the Premier replied. The motion was then put and agreed to on the voices amidst applause. The House rose at 9.55 p.m.
