The Legislative Council met at ‘—3o p.m. The Insurance Companies Deposit Bill was read for the first time and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Christchurch Sanitation Hill mid Christchurch Municipal Offices Leasing Bill were read a second time. The following local bills were passed Wuirau Harbour Board Empowering, Gisborne Harbour Board enabling amendment, A\ hakatane Harbours Amendment, Wairau River Distiict loan. In reply to the Hon. Garland, the leader of the Council stated that the data used by Dr Pitts in reference to deaths from anaesthetics had been compiled |>y the Health Department. The medical officers of the Department weie closely following the position, but as yet are unable to draw deductions from the figures and this year a comprehensive report would lie issued. The Council adjourned at 4.30 till Wednesday. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The House met at 2.30 p.m. V™ House was engaged all day on consideration of the estimates. The following votes were passed: Post Telegraph £2,349,208; Public buildings etc., £108.418; Justice Department £209,742 Crown Law Office, £5,927; Police £403500; Mines £35,000; Labour £35.762; Native Trust Account £0,120; Native Land Settlement Account £5,733.
