An incident took place tho other evening in the main street, Kuniara, at 5.30 o’clock, which shows how easily a, lire may take place when least expected. Mr Spiers alighted from his car to replenish the tank, and, whilst so doing soma of the petrol found its way on to the road. A bystander (who was viewing the operation lighted a cigarette and without realising tho danger threw the match to tho ground. In an instant that portion of the road just at the rear of the car was a. mass of flames, and for a while it looked as if the car would receive serious damage. However, .Mr Spiers, with assistance, managed to push the car out of harms way. Splendid lot of calico, arc now selling at much below former prices, bought at a big discount at Schroder and Co’s.
