Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Adi dington yards yesterday: , Store Sheep.—A very small entry comprised mostly of wethers and hng- . gets, with a few ewes and lambs. Best wethers made up to 22s (Id, others from 18s to 21s; best ewe hoggets to 16s lOd ; others from 12s 6d to 14s 6d ; best ewe hoggets to 21s 5d ; others from 18s to 20s. Ewes and jambs all counted made from. 13. sto 14s 6(1. Best sound mouth ones in lamb made up to 28s. The general tone of the market was firmer for all classes of good condition sheep. Store cattle.—A larger entry than for some considerable time. mostly nondescript lots, but the demand all round inii kceucr. 1 year old steers to £5 15b; three year* ditto .61 to £4 10s; 2 years ditto £2 10s to 63; yearling ditto 20s to 265; 2 year heifers 62 IPs to 63; yearlings 30s to 355. Cows 25s to 355, old and poor 10s to 20s. Pigs.—A fair yarding of stores and prices were slightly better than hast | week. Small woaners 7s t'o 10s, good | ditto to 22s 6d, medium stores 25s to 33s 6d, larger to 13s. Porkers, a. large entry sale opened well, hut quickly dropped hack. Light sorts 40s to 17s (id, medium 50s to 555, heavier to 63; average per Hi 7.U1 to B.UI. Ilacouers, a medium yarding and prices little difference to last week. Light .63 5s to 63 12s, medium 63 15s to 61 ; heavy to 64 15s, average per lb fid to 61,'(1. Beef.—A fairly huge yarding, including several North Island consignments and one from the West Coast. The quality, with few exceptions was different. The market opened 30s to 40s per head cheaper than last week and continued so until the last, race when one or two hoteliers found themselves misapplied, and consequently the market firmed lip somewhat at the finish. Prime steers 610 to 613 ; extra to 615 ss, medium 67 10s to 69 15s ; light and .inferior 64 10s to 67 5s ; prime heifers 66 to 68 7s (id; others .63 15s to .65 15s ; prime cows 65 10s to 68; extra to 610 ; others 62 10s to 65 ss. .Mutton.—A much smaller entry than last week and the quality all round was firm at last week's rates hut tinproved considerably as it progressed, ' hut towards the end slackened somewhat. The market showed an average advance of from Is to 2s Od per head all round. Gra.ziers were again operating for good .; bred ‘ wethers to shear. Country butchers were also operating I as well as West Coast butchers. Very { few ewes were ( ffering, hut sold well. Prime wethers 24s to 295, extra to 335, medium 21s (id to 23s (id; others * r.s (id to 21s. A few shorn wethers were yarded, the first of the season, and made up to 21s 9d.
