SETTING UP COMMITTTEES. LONDON, September 9,
The Australian Press Geneva correspodent states: The Australian and New Zealand delegates are being allocated to the following committees: Constitutional and Judicial Committees Justice Rich, Sir F. Bell, Sir J. Boyce; Technical Organisation Committee, Sir J. Cook, Sir J. Allen, and Sir J. Boyce Reduction of Armaments Committee, Mr Seldon and Sir W. Steel Maitland; Finance Committee, Sir J. Allen, Sir J. Cook, Sir J. Boyce; Social Problems Committee, Mr Sheldon, Mr Dale and Sir W. Steel Maitland; Political Committee, Judge Rich, Sir F. Bell, Sir J. Allen and Mr Dale.
At a meeting of the Health Committee on Friday an effort was made, under cover of the menace of a Russian epidemic, vo transform the Voluntary Health organisation into a permanent salaried department. Colonel John Ward, Sir J. Cook,, Sir J. Allen and Mr Dale are opposed to the move. After strenuous argument, the proposal was defeated, on tho ground that a voluntary organisation was satisfactory in the past, and am other salaried department wa9 unneces* my.
