There was a ere at crush at the Drill Shed hist night for the juvenile function following the Hospital Hail. There were scores of children’s lancy costumes, aiid also a crowd of interested adults present. The floor was fully occupied and every point of vantage was held by the sightseers. It was one of the largest gatherings seen in the hall. The proceedings were merry and bright all through the night. Several ladies and gentlemtu supplied music, and dancing, marching and games were the order of the proceedings. In the striking colors of the fancy costumes the scene was a very gay one, and altogether it. was a very animattd spectacle. With such a number of aspirants in fanev costume, the judges had a difficult' task in making their selection for the prizes. That of the best fancy costume for girls went to Miss M. McDonald in the character of “A Christmas Tree” which seemed to be quite outstanding. The ladies’ committee provided a special feast for the children who did full justice to the repast. Still there remained ample for the adults, who enjoyed a dance subsequent to the juveniles winding up. The evening was voted a great success and the receipts delighted those responsible for the organisation of the hospital benefit. Misses Moore and Foster, the joint secretaries, with Mrs Breeze sour., chairwoman, were indefatigable in their attention to the visitors, and along with numerous helpers did everything possible for the pleasure and entertainment of all. Messrs Breeze and Thompson oooperated in the direction ot the darn*inn. while many ladies and gentlemen assisted in the supply of the music, all vicing in the pleasant task of adding to the all round success. Ihe Hospital Ball committee will meet on Monday night to adjust the accounts.
