This is only the twelfth time a bowler has taken seventeen wickets in a first class match. Warwickshire made 244 against Surrey 104 for 2, when the match was abandoned owing to rain.
The match between Essex who had live on for one wicket against Yorkshire, was also abandoned for the same reason.
Yorkshire wins the County Championship with a percentage of 73.89; Notts 71.53; Surrey 6G.95; Kent 63.70. Yorkshire averages are : —Batting— Oldroyd 45.11 ; Sutcliffe 44.10; Rhodes 39.36; Holmes 39.18. Bowling—Rhodes 84 at a cost of 12.71 runs; MacAulay 120, at cost of 12.31; Kilner 101 at cost of 14.39; AYaddington 127 at cost of 14.40.
Notts averages are:—Batting—Wardstaffo 45.03; Carr 37.74 ; Payton 3(1.77 ; Gunn 33.95. Bowling—Richmond 169; wickets at cost of 13.48; Barratt 109 at cost of 16.33; Matthews 37 at cost 18.02.
