FOOTBALL ETHICS.
(To the Editor). Sir,—Like Air AlcGregor, the President of the AA’estland Sub-Union, I intend taking full advantage of your invitation re football grievances, and utilise the columns of your esteemed paper to air one or two complaints (real) that tlie Kokatahi Club have against the Sub-Union.
In his letter Air McGregor states that Melinrry received his transfer from the Cronndun Club on the same day as Twomey and AYright received theirs. Up to the present time neither Aleharry nor the Secretary of the. Kokatahi Club has received word that Meharrv’s trae fer was granted. If the Press is to be accepted as a criterion then Meharrv’s transfer was granted on the Monday night—two days after Twomey and Wright received theirs. Furthermore, Afr McGregor states that Aleharry was eligible to play in the Hnited-TCokatnhi match, hut owing to his being incapaciatcd during a practice game he was unable to take his place in the team. Seeing that, according to the Press Meharry did not receive his transfer until two days after the match' how could he bo eligible.
T again ask the President if his Union was perfectly satisfied that Twomey and AYright intended becoming bona fide residents. Tf this kind of business is continued then the proceedings tend to become farcical. Rugby is deteriorating in more ways than one, nnd if the Westland Sub-Union wish to help it down then they have certainly taken the right path. Let them continue holding special meetings under the same circumstances as the last one was held, and keep on transferring men, and in a very short time we will not require a Rugby Sub-Union, for thc simple reason there will he no rugby to control.—l am etc:, KOKATAHT SPORT. Kokatahi, September 3rd., 1922.
