From Health Department, Christchurch, in reference to contribution tn cost of health inspectors.—Received. From Same, in connection with collection and disposal of rubbish.—Received'. From Same, re sewerage ; scheme. —Received. From Same, in connection with j necessaries to a building used for public purposes, urging that the license be | not renewed unless proper attention is given to the requirements of the Dei partment.—Received; copy of letter to be forwarded to owner.

From Valuer-General, Wellington, notifying subsidy on rates for year was £125 lGs 7d.—Received. From H. Williams, acknowledging offer of Council for assistance in cutting down gorse, and asking for an increased grant.—Received ; referred to Public Works Committee to attend to. From N.Z. Railways Department, Greymouth, regretting that request for drain at abattoirs could not be agreed to.—Received; Overseer to report. From Hon J. G. Coates, Wellington, stating lie was not in favor of any alteration at present to the regulations covering the election of Electric Power Boards.—Received. REPORTS.

From Treasurer, reporting receipts £235 4s 9d, payments £l4l 11s, debit balance £122 Os* sd.—Received. Accounts amounting to £331 9s 3d were passed for payment. Mr Coulson moved formal motions to strike li general rate of Aid, lighting rate of Id. Charitable Aid of 3jd, special rates totalling 3d, ami sanitary lee of Ids per pan for ..the period coin' msueed on 31st March 1922.-r-Secotickd bv Mr Perry and carried. F rom Manager of Abattoirs (Mr J. Jarman) reporting' during August there were examined 12 cows, 95* bullock's, 378 sheep, 13 lambs, v 11 pigs, 1 calf. Condemned 1 bullock, 1 sheep. Fees for period £73 8s Gil.—Received. Mr Wood drew attention to the state of Cemetery Hill road. It was resolved to refer the matter to the Mental Hospital authorities for attention. ■ On the motion of Mr King. *■" by ill- Coulson. it was resolved to call tiie committee together next week to formulate loan proposals to be before the ratepayers. ■ The Council rose at 8.15p.m. •
