Empire Exhibition.
AUSTRALIA’S PART. SYDNEY, August 24. Active preparations are being made for Australia’s participation in the great British Empire Exhibition to be opened in London in April, 1924. A complete scheme, providing for establishment of a central commission and State committees for the carrying through of Australia’s participation in the exhibition, has been approved by the various Cabinets. Full machinery has been provided for linking up the State committees with the various industries within the States. Active operations will he commenced forthwith for the obtaining and preparation of exhibits. The cost of Australia’s exhibition and transportation is limited to £200,000, in addition .to the cost of procuring exhibits, which will be borne by the States. Of the £200,000 the Commonwealth will provide. £115,000, and the States £85,000, on a per capita basis, but expenses of obtaining and preparing the exhibits will bring the contribution of the States up to an amount at least equivalent to that of the Commonwealth.
