FOOTBALL CRITICISM.
(To the JidiLor.) Sir.—ln reply to Kokutahi Sport I would point out the following facts in regard to transfers:
Firstly—That at the meeting of tho Sub-Union held on Monday August 7th. an application was received for D. Meharry to transfer from Cronadun Club to Kokatahi. This was granted that night subject to Him becoming a
file resident of Kokatahi. On the Sunday following tho granting of this application, Meharry played again for Innngabua. This caused tTic transfer above to become void. On August 21st. .a fresh application was made .by tho Kokatahi Club for transfer for Meliarry. This was ruled out of order, and it was notified that Meharry must make a signed application himself. To enable this to he done the Union gave Meharry
up till Thursday 24th. to put his application in. In the meantime a requisition was received by the Union signed by two United Club delegates asking for a special meeting to he called (in accordance with the rules) on Friday to deal with application for transfers. Owing to the absence of the Chairman on ; Friday, the Secretary instructed the delegates that the meeting would ho '< held at 10.30 a.m. oil Saturday.
! The meeting was duly held on Saturday morning. Present—Messrs F. McGregor (Chair), Sellers, Rutland, and McMamiway (United), Steel and Dowell (Kiwi), Cutbnsh (Referees Association) Adamson (Excelsior) Aldridge (Kokatahi), Heonnn (Secretary). Applications , for transfer approved by respective Clubs were received from D. Meliarry, Cronadun to Kokatahi, and G. Wright and P. Twomoy, Cronadun to United. The granting of the three transfers were agreed to unanimously
Rules relating to transfers state: (8) That no player he allowed to play for any Club in any Club competition unless he Has resided in the district, 14 days immediately prior to talcing part in the match, or intends to become a bona fide resident of the district and obtains the consent of the Committee upon application ill writing by player and Club. The district to mean the Westland Sub-Union district.
Meliarry was eligible to play Tor Ko- ' katahi as Wright and Twomcy did for United, but owing to his being injured during the week at practice he was unable to play. These are the plain facts of tile case.—l am etc., F. McGREGOR, President", j Wcstlaiul Sub-Union. |
