At Marion, in Illinois, a grand jury returned a first indictment connected with Herrin massacre, charging a Marion citizen with firing a shot which killed Superintendent Me Dowoil Of tho Southern Ilinois coal mine. A warrant was, immediately issued for his arrest and indietmVnt, after only three days’ investigation. This came as a distinct surprise, since doubt had been expressed whetbe/r anything effective would result from the sittings.
