ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. DROP IN BEEF. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH:, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.—A small market, composed mostly of inferior sheep. Anything in decent condition sold weil, but small and low conditioned sorts were .hard to sell. Best wether hoggets up.to 15s 6d, best ewe hoggets to i24s. Good OW4S up to 27s (id, others fr<mi 2Qs. A small pen of forward wethers made 22s 2d.
Store cattle.—A fair yarding, but as usual included a big proportion of odd lots and mostly inferior quality. Any well grown stovers or good sorts ot heifers sold well, but all other sorts were hard to sell. Best three year steers £3 5s to ,£5; ,18' months to two years old £2 to £3 5s ; yearling steers 20s to 40s; eighteen months to two years heifers £2 lOs to £3 2s fid ; good cows £1 10s to £3 ss, others 10s to 255. Baconers.—A small yarding. light and medium £3 10s to.£4, mediums £4 os to £4 10s, extra heavy to £4 15s. The average price was 6Jd to 7),d. Porkers—A medium entry and prices were satisfactory. Light 28s to 355, medium 50s to 555, heavy to 03$. Stores.—A large yarding. Small weaners 10s to 15s; good sorts 20s to 28s; small slips 22s to 20s; mediums 28s to 3os; large up to 52s Gd.
Beef. —A very Large yarding, 450 coming forward as compared with 337 Inst week. Included in the entry were several lines from the North Islatid and also Otago. The market showed a decline all round of 2f)s to 30s per head, hut was much more apparent in medium and inferior sorts than In best quality. Prime steers £l3 10s to £ls 15s; extra to £18; medium £lO to £l3; lighter and inferior £5 to £9 10s; prime heifers £8 to £10s; extra to £ll 3s; others £5 to £7 10s. Host cows £4 15s to £9 15s; others £2 15s to £4 10s 3d.
Mutton.—A much larger yarding than last week comprising mostly wethers. The market opened easier than last sale, and continued so
throughout, -showing anything from -Is Od to 2s drop on last week. The quality generally was irregular. Prime wethers 23s Gd to 27s Gd ; extra 23s to 33s 9d; medium 21s Gd to 235: lightet 19s to 21s. Graziers were operating keenly for derent half bred wethers for shearing. Very few ewes were yarded. the best making up to 2Gs 9d.
