AMUSEMENTS.
PQLI.ARD’B PICTURES. • - TO-NIGHT. At the Princess Theatre to-night Pollards are presenting a good programme headed by Pat O’Malloy in a seven reel sensational' drama entitled “Sherry.” - A fight that leaves both combatants pretty well exhausted is only one of' the attractive features of. “Sherry” in which Pat O’Malley has the title role, and lives again George Barr McCntcheon’s fine story of the young man who sows a generous crop of wild oats, becomes the horrible example of the town, and then to everyone’s surprise, proceeds to climb hack to respectability from the mire into which he has fallen, by the hard road of toil and' mental fighting. Lililan Hall' is charming as the inspiration for the young mail’s good deeds, and the. story does not lack in vivid action that is eminently suitable to the quick fire young Irishman who made such a bit of' the hero’s role in “Go and Get it.” A Topical Budget and a screaming comedy will also he screened.
There is something vital in the fibre of “Homespun Folks,” Thomas H. luce’s feature, which is being shown at the Princess Theatre on Thursday. Like all screen successes it stands for dean romance and wholesome aftertastes. Human interest fairly oozes out of. the drama. The acting by Lydia, Knott as the ‘mother, and 'Charles Modes as the father is sui>erb, while young Lloyd- Hughes evemplifies all that is best in young manhood. The characterisations smack of real life. There is nothing studied about the action. Animals and’humans alike play important parts in tins rural epic. It is vitally real, and its appeal is as universal as the appeal is of motherhood. Every class and creed will enjoy “Homespun Folks.” It is the heart drama of 10,000 small towns and 60.000.000 plain people. A Gaumont Graphic, comedy, and second episode “Hidden Dangers,” will also he shown.
