The fire was discovered by a porter from ■ Warner’s Hotel, who visited the office for copies of to-day’s issue. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The damage is estimated at £7OO. The total insurance on the building plant etc., is £65.832 in various offices.

FOUND HANGING. • AUCKLAND, August 30. A man’s dead body was found hanging to a tree in the Domain, suspended from a branch by a strap around the neck and had apparently been there for several days. Letters in the pocket bore the name of H. Cooper.
