The loan proposal of £15.000 for spopts faeilites, municipal office extensions. and loading was defeated by 975 to 486. Great interest was taken in the re*sult, and it may he regarded as a protest against further borrowing.
BOY SCOUTS. CHRISTCHURCH. Aug 28. The Kxeeutia of the Boy Scouts’ Ass#eintiou of New Zealand has decided! to abandon the rally or jamboree to have been lmld at Christchurch at Christmas time, owing to the poor support forthcoming from the troops throughout the Dominion.
BABY’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, August 28 A coroner’s inquest was held this morning on the body of a female child of a girl named Daisy Ireland, aged only sixteen. The child was horn on a motor launch, at AYhau Creek. The medical evidence was that the child had died from asphyxiation. It might have lived if it were properly attended to. There was nothing to indicate the cause of death.
Cecil X. AVilliams, in evidence, admitted that he was tlie father of the child.
Tlie Coroner returned a verdict that death was from asphyxia, due to want of attention.
