An-i. 10. j In the New South Wales State Schools, the teachers are now able to , evaluate the handwriting of children bv a fixed measure, which substitutes tiie objective method of judging hand- . writing for the personal or subjective method, a system that is now considered unscientific and varying. By means writing scales, issued by the Department of Education, not only may immediate values lie determined, hut also the periodic progress of an individual or class. Competitions between different classes of the school, moreover, can now he decided without the disturbing influence of persona! bias, and teachers henceforth will be able to a see-a run with accuracy if the handwriting ot a class one vear has improved on classes of previous years.
