DANGEROUS SHAFT. REEFTON, August 24. As a result of a visit of inspection to the Big River‘Mine, by Mr ,T. "Downey, Government Inspector of Mines, and Mr Mark Fagan, the Workmen’s Inspector, the former has ordered the min© to ho closed, pending necessary repairs in the main shaft. The period of the stoppage is indefinite, and in the meantime, the bulk of the employees have been put off.
