AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. MACLAREN’S TEAM. (Received this dav at 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug 23. The ‘‘Daily Telegraph” says the per- > sonnel of Maclarens team so far is j not up to expectations. Had Hubert \ Ashton, Jardine and several others I been available, the team would have ; presenter a more favourable aspect, j With the exception of a couple of | players, the combination appears medi- ! core. There is no marked bowling talent. If there is, it will probably prove effective on the hard Australian wickets. Chapman and Calthorpe are the stars of the team. Gibson, if ho accepts, will considerably strengthen the howling. Of the rest little can be said, as their performances against Australia, last year were not too brilliant.
